there's already enough lazy "native americans" or "aboriginals" or whatever they want to be called, mooching off tax dollars.

Squiggle. as a son of a woman who spends her entire life in pro-first naitions law. i can unregretibly say: FUCK YOU!
  • Squiggle · 1 month ago
the government makes tons of programs (not to mention in canada, university is not only free, they are PAID TO GO BUT DONT). We keep trying to give them the "leg up" to get ahead in life (and although some gladly go and make something of themselves) I personally have seen over 100 natives that seem to be content with sitting at the bottom and complaining about the "evil white man"

Ok Mr Squiggle. How’s this. I’ll have a bunch of strange people you don’t know, burst into your home. Claim it as their own, kidnap your kids, put them into residential schools in which they are beaten, sexually abused, and forbidden to see you or even to speak their own language, then tossed out onto the street expected to make a living of themselves.

Oh, and while this has happened, you and the rest of your family will probably have gotten old and died, thus leading to the death of your culture, and any family values or traditions you may have had.

Now have these strange people use a foreign substance that makes your children physically and mentally impaired to control them into doing things they want. Since this substance was developed far away, and your entire culture had not pre-existing contact with this substance, even a small amount would make your children think the ground was talking to them.

Oh, and on top of that. These strange people tore down your house, killed your pets, raped your wife, and built a massive factory on the spot. In which they expect you to get a job for currency you know nothing about, and had no prior need for.

Now tell me. How dose this NOT seem evil?

the thing is, in "this modern world" your scenario makes sense. but in the world where settlers first came, that would be disputed as "if you can't defend yourself, then it is your own fault, you are in charge of your safety" they had a disadvantage, big deal, that's how the human species came to be, taking the opprotunity. It'd be like as if a law was changed today, and EVERY case involving that law was re-asessed in accordance to what the law says today, instead of what it said at the time of the case.

now with the residential schooling and attempted killing off of the culture, I will admit it was a wrong course of action, but you cannot fix what happened by simply throwing money at them. it's an insult to all parties involved saying "money fixes everything". (and a side note to anyone who has ever tried to sue for "emotional distress" for monetary compensation, I would only compensate the fee of a psychiatrist)

and what "foreign substance" are you referring to? it could be a plethora of things. Word of advice, inform people to NOT take the substance, and keep them well informed of the dangers. If they don't listen to warnings, then what can you do? and I don't think anyone can boast a natural resistance to almost any drug, it's not like we evolve with drugs. especially meth.

factories. "god save us" from the factories. I don't see China complaining about the factories, or anyone here holding the torch for them.

I should gather everything I hear, this was an interesting one.

a man who works with the government with building concerns on reserves comes for an issue (which is at the time unimportant) along the way, he sees the side of a house. what's on the side of the house? a gaping hole. but it couldn't be from an automobile, it doesn't touch the ground. He asked the other man he was with, who explained "they cut the hole so their horse could drink from the tub".
the man asked what they would do in the winter, and it was explained the government would obviously have to pay to fix it.

now I can expent people's resentment, and I can accept it, but I ask in return that people don't be so irresponsible with concerns of the government's fundings.

WOW, it took me FOREVER to read this webcomic from start to finish, with all the interruptions. But I finally caught up, and it was worth every second.

Jimmy is by far the most epic webcomic character ever created. EVER. The fact that Bin Laden's his mother doesn't even lessen my crazy obsession for him.

...Wait, this means I have to wait until Monday for another comic doesn't it? NOOOOOOO!

    yaaay another jimmy fan!

    *breaks out Jimmy bible*
have you heard the word of the Jimmy?
  • CrazyCheshire · 1 month ago
Yes, I have. I can't believe I had gone through my entire life not knowing about Jimmy.
  • draconi · 1 month ago
the Jimmy watches over all. however, he plays the vidio games too much to really spend any time outdoors. wich is why he isent that well known.

I'm liking Cecania's new sleeveless top. But I miss her obscenely long hair.

Also, nice Metal Gear Solid reference.

the forign substance was infact alchohol. small ammounts of it was put into chough syrup or something simmiler, and given as a "cure all fix all" to the nativive amaricans. this small amount of alchohol was able to make them drunk, and was used to keep the naitives under control.

oh im sorry. i guess your USED to working in a factory. becuse the naitives wernt. so hows this then?

we rip you out of your nice warm office, and throw you into the cold unforgiveing wilderness. "GO HUNT!" we yell as we drive away. leaveing you cold, alone, with nothing but a stapler and the clothes on your back, and no knolige onb how to hunt. thats prity much how the naitives felt when told to work in places they have never even heard of before.

as for the case you have mentioned, i have never persionally heard of it. could you please give me a link as proof? for all i know this could just be an urban legend.

and NO ONE is trying to fix the problem by throwing money at them! the naitives dont even have CONTROL over how their money is spent! THE GOVERMENT DOSE! if Mr Eagleclaw wants to start a farm to help feed his pepole, guess what? he needs to ask the goverment for the money to do so. becuse they are the ones who have control of all the money the naitives have.

also, i dont know if you have noticed, but s'far as i can tell, all those polotical parties ARE the ones saying "money fixes eavrything" its how the system effing works in todays community!

    "Fiscal Update

...I am amazed by two things: the first is that an apparent majority of non-First Nations people are dumb enough to believe that First nations people simply don't pay taxes - First Nations people do pay taxes if employed and living off reserve. The second is that it it took as long as it did to read "...go back to where you came from" on this thread! Vigilantestwin, the reason that Canada doesn't "give the first nations back there (sic) land and resourses and mineral rights and everyone can go back where they came from...problem solved" is because your forefathers signed treaties - contracts - which both sides break at will. It is also unreasonable that First Nations simply be handed resource royalties as it is unlikely that without a few hundred years of 'colonization' that First Nations would've developed the technology to drill for oil, mine, etc.. But if First Nations people did develop the technology, I've no doubt they would abuse it just like the 'white man' - warring tribes would often slaughter herds of buffalo just so that the 'enemy' woudn't have anything to eat, for it was "...better to kill the buffalo than feed the Sioux" said one of the so-called stewards of Mother Earth! For the record, I too, have been in rez housing and the problem is not so much the government funding - or lack thereof - but the band governance. The monies allocated for housing almost never makes it to housing - unless it is the Chief's or his family and friends... and who's fault is that?"

leaf through the public's opinions, especially the insane like the one referenced above.

you make it very hard to argue with you when i have no idea what you just said. you know that?

Nobody can be faulted for the sins of their fathers, the first nations leaders did not get a fair deal, or even a half fair one, but they did not get ethnically cleansed by the conquering peoples and the white man's crimes are not carried down to todays generations, so in relative terms both sides fucked up in the past to differing degrees but that has little to no bearing in this millennium save for the reparations being made to the aboriginal peoples to help them "catch up" as a ethnicity rooted in two developed nations. So in case anybody forgot it's 2009 and everybody in this day and age are responsible for supporting themselves if they are capable of doing so, any freeloading is always looked down upon if the individual is capable of work no matter their ethnicity and if anybody missed this the United Nations stated that there is only one race, the human race, so we should just stop subdividing ourselves and having different standards and rules for each other being as we are all part of the same country. Being from Regina (the city from the news article) I have seen my fair share of the differing levels between cultures from financial points of view, out population is 70% aboriginal and our employment rate is 50 or less (Saskatchewan), and the poverty plays the greatest role in why many first nations on welfare do not wish to support themselves. Unfortunately this is a horrible drain on the system and further incentives of paid education, housing assistance, etc. there is a lot of money going out with virtually less coming back in, with no sign of change as many are content to deal with the woes of poverty, gang life, crime, substance abuse, etc. in exchange for not paying taxes and getting a welfare check, childcare check, and no desire to change. thus the system stays the same and we keep dragging these cultural offenses with us for hundreds of years. Time to forgive the past, nobody is screaming about how the romans didn't give a fair shake to whoever they conquered, then realize that the settlers did horrible things, also past, all that is left is the future and in a world living beyond it's means we all have to earn our livings and with war, pollution, climate change, recession, we've got bigger things to worry about so worry about so let it go.
